This was one of our biggest projects and challenges at Sagenverse. This digital twin and habitat recreation of the Florida Keys Eco Discovery Center and Mangrove Habitat utilized 3D scanning, recreating from reference, cleanup, optimization, and the recreation of a habitat from experience and photo references.

This project started as a way to help previous and future visitors learn and experience the majesty of the protected habitats in the Florida Keys. We were able to venture do the EDC in person and utilizing a matterport camera, and polycam we scanned and captured the entire museum, and several artifacts. I then took those photogrammetry assets cleaned then up and for the EDC, rebuilt using the scan as a reference point for size and proportion. Utilizing tile/trim textures and managing assets and textures we are able to present the full interactive experience even on mobile browsers without an app download. For the mangrove habitat on our reference trip we were able to capture several images and videos for visual references to build to. Optimizing for the mangroves scene really required controlling and maximizing quality around a constrained polycount and draw call total. Both of these exhibits have multiple fully engaging tours and expierences and images and videos cant quite do them justice.
